International Telecommunication Union with the Ministry of Communication and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will hold an International Forum on the topic «Smart sustainable cities: organizational and technical aspects of development» from March 16 to 18, 2021 in Minsk. It is planned to participate in the Forum: the leadership of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, the Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union for the CIS countries, republican government bodies, regional executive committees, as well as leading organizations of science and education. Experts from the International Telecommunication Union, Administrations and communications organizations of the CIS member states, as well as specialists from Belarusian organizations will present practical experience and ways of building a smart sustainable city at the Forum. A smart sustainable city is an innovative city that uses ICT and other means to improve living standards, efficiency of activities and services in cities, as well as competitiveness, while consuming the consumption of the present and future in economic, social, environmental and cultural aspects. At the current stage of development of smart sustainable cities, the most pressing issues are the definition of integrated approaches to building smart sustainable cities, the development of conceptual documents and methods for assessing the effectiveness of the development of smart sustainable cities, taking into account the emergence of various technical solutions for a smart sustainable city. The Forum program includes a wide range of thematic reports of Belarusian and international experts in the following areas: - organizational and economic aspects of the development of smart sustainable cities; - technical aspects of developing smart sustainable cities. The objectives of the Forum are: - familiarization of specialists of the Republic of Belarus with the latest world achievements and trends in the field of smart sustainable cities; - consideration of proposals from ITU Member States in the region to unify approaches to building and developing smart sustainable cities; - defining the area and order of interaction between government and commercial structures in the joint implementation of smart city solutions. The Forum will allow leading experts from different countries to exchange experience in the development of smart urban technologies and solutions on the most pressing issues, to achieve a common understanding of the problems of a smart city and ways to solve them. This Forum is addressed to representatives of ministries, regulators, municipalities, telecom operators, universities and general education institutions, telecommunication equipment manufacturers, research and development institutes, software developers and other interested stakeholders. The Forum will be held in hybrid format (physical + online).
