The Republic of Belarus is a state in the center of Europe with a population of more than 9 million 300 thousand people. It is located at the intersection of transport and information flows between the West and East, North and South of the Eurasian continent.

Skilfully using the benefits of its unique geographical location, Belarus is actively developing its information infrastructure. One of the priorities of the country's sustainable development is the digital transformation of the economy and the widespread dissemination of innovations.

To date, the Republic of Belarus has made significant progress in the digital sphere. A developed and world-standard data transmission network, reliable data storage and processing centers, identification mechanisms, online payment systems, modern electronic services and information security tools have been created.

Belarus holds a leading position in the introduction of information and communication technologies in the CIS region.

According to the International Telecommunication Union, according to the ICT index, the country ranks 32nd out of 176 countries.

Belarus took the 13th place in the overall rating of postal development (2 iPads)

According to the results of the United Nations e-Government Survey for 2022, Belarus is in the top 30 countries out of 193 countries represented in the ranking, ahead of such countries as Israel, France, Japan, Liechtenstein, Turkey, Monaco, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Romania, Mexico.

Belarus received an absolute score of 120 points for the position "Number of mobile mobile telecommunications subscribers per 100 inhabitants" of the telecommunications infrastructure subindex and ranked 32nd on it, ahead of Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Belgium, Ireland, Slovenia, Greece, Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Canada, the Russian Federation, China, Kazakhstan.

According to the "Global Innovation Index 2021" The Republic of Belarus:

  • ranked 16th among 132 countries in terms of "Access to ICT"
  • according to the indicator "Export of ICT services" (telecommunications, computer and information) in the total volume of foreign trade, the Republic of Belarus ranked 11th in the world

In the next five years, the guidelines and the pace of work will be determined by the State Program "Digital Development of Belarus". As a result of its implementation, it is planned to further increase the technological level of Belarus' development both nationally and globally, to form a unified architecture of state data and their management policy. And this means creating a digital information ecosystem. Most of the state functions and business processes of organizations will be transferred to electronic form.
